Buist Sheet Metal is made for cold weather.
Our team completed the fabrication and installation of a traditional double locked standing seam metal roof on this modern prairie style home in February 2015, fighting each day to complete the project throughout the coldest February on record. The average temperature for the entire month was 13.3 degrees, with the overnight low temperatures dipping below zero eight times!
All roof panels were roll formed on site and despite the cold weather, the team worked hard every day to provide the homeowner and builder with the highest quality roof. The hemmed valley locks on the roof panels are clean and tight, and straight as an arrow. The hip caps and ridge caps maintain the straight and clean lines of the roof. Great care was taken to minimize any work over top of the metal roofing, including coordinating for just a single roof panel to be installed on each of (8) roof slopes around the base of the second story tower prior to installation of the wood siding. The S-5! ColorGard snowguards add to the clean lines and provide snow management as needed.
We also clad the chimney chase with custom formed flat lock metal wall shingles and topped it with a matching chase top and chimney shroud to hide the flues.
